Missana & World Design Capital 2022

“Scenes from the near future”, an exhibition that explores the changes that homes could experience in the coming years.

At Missana we have collaborated with World Design Capital Valencia 2022 and with the renowned design journalist Tachy Mora. In this collaboration we have created a system that explores the changes that homes could experience in the coming years.

This system called Tape and designed by Clap Studio is exhibited at “Scenes from the near future” at Museu del Carme Cultura Contemporánea in Valencia until March 19, 2023.

Curated by design journalist Tachy Mora, the exhibition addresses issues that directly affect a society that is particularly open to change in the home, such as today’s.

Our proposal was Tape System, a furniture program conceived from the hybridization, multifunctionality and flexibility of reconfiguration. It allows the fusion of two types of equipment that rarely go together, since the modular seats and sofas that are composed of its elements can, in turn, incorporate tables, shelves and even coat racks. In the same way that it is possible to merge them, creating hybrid and multifunctional islands, they can also be placed independently, either free-standing or wall-mounted. Their creative coupling system, with no fixed hardware or bolts, is key to the flexible reconfiguration of this unique furniture program, designed by Clap Studio for Missana.

The modularity of the Tape System makes it possible to design a wide range of furnishing options. On the one hand, apart from the classic combinations by seats or in corner, it also allows to compose island-type sofas, with seats on all sides. Hybrid approaches, which require a free-standing location, expand this island concept by allowing the addition of other functions: from a dining or work table to a desk with shelves, or a coat rack with shelves as a separator-receiver that zonifies a space near an entrance. All of these can also be used separately if desired. Coupling and uncoupling is very simple and makes it easier to adapt the furniture over time to different living or distribution needs.
